THE IROQUOIS CONTRIBUTION
In 1988, on the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the US Constitution,
"The Congress acknowledged the historical debt that the US owes the
Iroquois Confederacy and other Indian Nations for their demonstration of
enlightened, democratic principles of Government."
(This priceless gift to the US and world came from a balanced society
where the Chiefs were groomed (from birth) and chosen by the Clan
Mothers. The world is also grateful to the Clan Mother for helping give
American women the vote, as they adopted the women who became the
Suffragettes.)
"And the original framers of the Constitution, including George
Washington and Benjamin Franklin, are known to have greatly admired the
concepts of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. Their model
resolved the major dilemma: How could 13 sovereign states be made into
one country, without each one giving up its power."
