COLORADO
NVF wants to
acknowledge our appreciation to Daniel Rollingbears Quintana (Lakota),
and Southern Ute Council and leaders: Eugene and Alden Naranjo, as well
as Oren and Eddie Box Sr (Red Ute) and Jr, and Ross Anderson (Cheyenne
Bronze Medallist in the World Speed Skiing Championships in 2005) and their families.
Their vision and open hearts, together with the community of Telluride and Ron Allred's Telski, in wanting "to create a celebration of unity
for the benefit of all our children," was key in leading this historic healing bridge between our cultures through sharing the skiing and
snowboarding and the Utes' earth-honoring culture, starting in 1997. This wonderful feeling and formula of hope then snowballed across
Colorado and America! Also bless Red Ute for first graciously saving Vail with your snow ceremonies for the 1961 Opening.
